Mission-critical systems

Mission-critical system engineering and numeric modeling for real-time simulation for avionics, space and military are one of the main R&D directions of the Institute. IPMCE specialists have contributed to numerous safety and mission critical system development including design of microelectronic controllers for satellite-based monitoring systems, software verification of flight management systems and integrated display panels, development of full authority digital engine controller for gas turbine engines, etc.

Reliability, fault tolerance, response time and severe external environment are the key distinctive features of mission-critical systems, developed by IPMCE.

  • Multidiscipline system and real time software for full-flight simulators and test benches
  • Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC)
  • Integrated Flight Panel Displays (IFPD)
  • Communication and Data link Systems
  • R&D in wireless technologies for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
  • Sensor networks development
  • Satellite-based monitoring systems
  • Satellite flight dynamics and ballistics

The most experience has been accumulated in development and verification of microelectronic controllers for satellite-based monitoring space systems, satellite flight ballistics, numerous mathematical models and software for multidiscipline system and software real time simulation.

IPMCE specialists have an extended experience in development of aircraft and helicopter engine models and FADEC software. These models cover such systems as Fuel and Hydro Mechanical Units, Ignition, Thrust Reverser, Oil Control, Starting, Auxiliary Power Plant, Integrated Flight Panel Displays, Communication and Data link Systems, Sensors and Actuators. The technical activities for model development are based on requirements of International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Together with NASA USA, CNES FR, Snecma FR, Sukhoi RU, Avidyne USA, General Electric USA and several other world-known companies our specialists have contributed into numerous international projects.

IPMCE’s strategic decision to invest into further knowledge growth and development of engineering resources dedicated to custom software and hardware development for avionics industry is based upon

  • IPMCE existing profound experience in embedded solutions including mission-critical systems
  • Massive commercial success of custom software development by IPMCE engineers
  • Growing demand in reliable cost-effective development partners with specific experience in safety-critical system
  • Strong trends in development of more integrated computer systems for civil aviation and space industry
  • IPMCE access to graduates from the top technical universities and to the best-of-breed engineers from world-known Russian aerospace industry.

Quality and engineering processes

Our technology expertise is based on well-established engineering process, knowledge of specific development tools for safety-critical and real-time systems, a model approach to design software, including executable UML-based specs for automatic code generation and document generation required for software certification as well as knowledge of quality assurance standards and certification requirements for software for safety-critical real-time systems.

  • Software engineering team is ISO 9001 certified.
  • Software engineering process in mission critical software group is DO-178B compliant
  • Software engineering project managers are certified Project Management Professionals
  • We use early prototyping and V-cycle SW development
  • All team reviews are subject to Software Quality Assurance auditing
  • Our quality assurance group is independent from software development department
